HOME PAGE THOUGHT OF THE WEEK:
It's always best to let sleeping deus lie...

Welcome to Les Pages aux Folles, a collection of satirical writings and comedic doodles. The most recently written articles can be found in the New section; two or three will appear each Sunday. I now also rotate two cartoons (My Toronto and/or Delicate Negotiations); while the latest will appear on this page every Sunday, recent cartoons can be found on the appropriate pages in the New section. Collections of older material (currently numbering 24: 18 books of prose and six of cartoons) appear in the Archive.

Enjoy,
Ira Nayman

New

Big Changes To the Little Ol' Web Site

There will be some major bookization happening at Les Pages aux Folles in 2013, including four new collections of articles. To ease you into it, this month we'll start with a new collection of cartoons: Delicate Negotiations: Round Three: Grannies and Shemales (Just Don't Mention the Goat Head). Enjoy.

Even More Blatant Self-promotion (As If There Could Ever Be Enough)

I have done a couple of new interviews to promote the novel Welcome to the Multiverse*. First up is an interview with Michel (Mike) Plested on the Irreverent Muse Web site. It actually starts with a very nice review of the book - twofer!

My good friend Stephen Pearl conducted an interview with me at the end of a long day at the Ad Astra science fiction convention, so we were both suitably punchy. Click on the link to hear PART ONE, or click on the other link to hear PART TWO. Another marvelous twofer! Stephen also attended the launch of the novel at the con and recording me reading the first chapter. It gives a bit of a flavour.

And, there's a new review! The Mole writes that Welcome to the Multiverse* is "A great read that is highly entertaining and while it is funny throughout it isn't the kind of story that relies on one-liners and punchlines..." Under my aardvark skin, I blush. To read the full review, go to the Our Book Reviews Web site.

As always, for information on Welcome to the Multiverse*, including where you can find sample chapters and prices, click on the cover below:

This Week's New Columns

The Daily Me - Blind Blossom Dearie

So far, allies of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford have not responded to articles about the two Toronto Startle reporters who have seen video that appears to show Ford doing an autopsy on a dead alien. With his eyes closed.

The Canadian Specialty Channel Content Production Algorithm

Apply for a licence for a Canadian specialty channel. Make extravagant promises about how much Canadian content you will produce. No, seriously, go wild. Promise 27 hours a day of original content featuring all of the most well known Canadian stars who have made it big in the US. Trust me - it won't matter.

Welcome Back My Friednishes To The Show That Never Ednishes

I now have a Facebook author/fan/whatever you want to call it page: Ira Nayman's Thrishty Friednishes. Go, look around, like it if you feel so inclined and feel free to leave a comment. I have only just started it, so it may be a little sparse at the moment, but I will add content based on what people post they would like to see. Within reason.

OMG, It's Here! Still!

My novel, Welcome to the Multiverse* is now available in convenient book form. If you want a look at the trailer for the novel that the Alternate Reality News Service called, "The best universe hopping adventure ever released (this week)," just click on the cover below and enjoy!

To celebrate, I've started doing interviews on other people's blogs. The first of two, for instance, can be found on Mia Darien's From Mia's Desk. Another can be found at I Read Indie. The always reliable Jacco van der Horst has an interview with me on Books and Writing. And, if that doesn't sate your thirst for obscure knowledge about me, you can always read my interview on Two Ends of the Pen

I had a delightful interview with Morgen (with an "E") Bailey over at her blog. Then, I wrote a guest post for the Indie House Books blog. And, to top it off, I was interviewed at the Artists First Web site. Slowly, but surely, my dastardly satiric plans are being revealed to the public! Enjoy.

THIS JUST IN: The first review of Welcome to the Multiverse* has appeared! (And, when I say the first review, I really mean the second review, but the first worth talking about. "[T]o be honest," the reviweer wrote, "this book is one of the funniest sci-fi books I've ever read.” You can read the entire review on Rising Shadow. Woot woot!

Other reviews have been trickling in, and they have generally been positive. Seregil of Rhiminee called it "[O]ne of the funniest sci-fi books I've ever read.' at the Rishing Shadow Web site. Geoff Nelder wrote on Cafe Doom: "Yes, like all the other stories by Ira Nayman, this is hilarious and yet the reader is poked into thinking beyond the conventional." Meanwhile, over at Boom Baby Reviews, Mia Darien wrote: "Ira Nayman is, without a doubt, totally insane. I mean, really bug-nuts crazy... As such, you can imagine that his stories are about the same. And they are. But they're really funny, which is what makes them pretty awesome."

I well and truly blush. In a good way.

Ask Amritsar and Ask the Tech Answer Guy, the two advice columns produced by the Alternate Reality News Service, are now a weekly feature of Les Pages aux Folles. If you have a grave concern or a passing wonderment that you think one of our advice columnists can answer, I want to hear from you. Simply submit your own questions to: questions@lespagesauxfolles.ca. It's your shot at immortality! And, it's my chance to fill another 700 word column!

Les Pages aux Folles Gets Social, baby!

You may have noticed that there are little colourful squares on each page on the Web site. That isn't a cheap way to get more graphics on my pages to please my Web Goddess. Well, not only that. Those graphics are actually links to various social networking and recommendation sites. If you like something you read here, please take a moment and tell people there.

Oh, and I am now on Twitter! If you're not following ARNSProprietor, well, why aren't you?

Other...Other Stuff

As always, all praise to Gisela McKay of Pixcode for her assistance with Les Pages aux Folles since its inception. Not only has she donated space on her server for me to park the Web site, but she has withstood an onslaught of newbie questions that would have made a lesser woman run away screaming (not an uncommon reaction to me, I must admit). This Web site would not have been possible without her. Gisela is, truly, a tech goddess.
