Although, I Personally Prefer Beasely Street To Baker Street

Musician Gerry Rafferty has died at the age of 63. And, dammit, if his music was good enough for Quentin Tarantino, it's good enough for me!

Of Course, For Pointing That Out I Will Probably Some Day Join Him...

Dr. Ernest McCulloch, a pioneer in stem cell research and bone marrow transplants for cancer patients, has died at the age of 84. He is undoubtedly burning in Catholic Hell as a reward for his life's work.

He Lived Life In The Fast LaLanne

Pioneering television fitness guru Jack LaLanne has died at the age of 96. The obvious joke would be that his workout regimen was clearly flawed, but LaLanne made it himself in 2006 when he said, "I can't afford to die. It would wreck my image." So, his obituary will have to wait until I come up with a less obvious joke.

Gentlemen Took Polaroids

Musician Mick Karn has died of cancer at the age of 52. He was best known for the hit single "Bette Davis Eyes." Unless that was Kim Carnes. Oh, wait - it was Kim Carnes. Mick Karn was best known for...his contribution to the song "My Best Friend's Girl." Unless that was the Cars. Oh, wait...

First, Kevin Keller, Now This!

The Comics Code Authority Seal of Approval has died at the age of 56. Although it had been ailing for a long time, it finally expired when DC and Archie Comics, the last two companies to subscribe, decided to pull the plug. It was born in turmoil and led a controversial life, but most reasonable people would allow that it had good intentions. It is survived by whatever code of conduct each comic book publisher chooses to employ.

Baby, The Rainmaker Must Fall

Legendary Liberal Party organizer Keith Davey has died at the age of 84 after a seven year bout with Alzheimer's. With all of the praise for his love of country and ability to mobilize and motivate people, apparently we are all supposed to forget what a rainmaker actually does.

He Was A Cool Cat (Except When He Was Chasing Rats In Alleyways...)

Ed Mauser, the oldest living member of Easy Company, the American World War II military unit known as the "Band of Brothers," has died at the age of 94. Did you ever see the TV series Band of Brothers? What an amazing tribute to WWII veterans, and especially the members of Easy Company. I mean, that show laid it all out there; it really portrayed the experience of soldiers at war, warts and all. It was a fitting tribute to members of the Greatest Generation who made the world safe for the freedoms we now take for granted.

Of course, Mauser was not one of the soldiers portrayed in the series. But, uhh, I'm sure he felt honoured nonetheless.

I'm Kidding, Of Course - Everybody Knows That The Monkees Were Real

Shaw theatre festival veteran Al Kozlik has died at the age of 67 after suffering a stroke. Peter Donaldson, a Stratford theatre stalwart, has died of lung cancer. He was 58. Gina Wilkinson, who started as an actor at Stratford but more recently directed at the Shaw festival and the Tarragon theatre, has died of cervical cancer at the age of 50. But, let us not think of it as the end. Let us, instead, imagine that they have become a part of that touring company from which no traveler returns.
