The Daily Me - Angelo Anjou

Thank you, Angelo Anjou, for signing up for The Daily Me. Our search engine has combed the Internet for up to the minute news items that fit the profile you have so painstakingly filled out for us. Then, we weighted the probability that you would be interested in these articles against forms which showed what people with tastes similar to yours have liked reading in the past. And, then, we read that top aides to Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may have put pressure on a former Minister to lift the threat of a criminal conviction facing SNC-Lavalin - need we say, a company that is a major contributor to the Liberal Party? We were, of course, shocked, utterly shocked...that it took so long in Trudeau's first term for a corruption scandal to erupt. Either the Liberals are slipping in their corruption efforts, or the Conservatives are slipping in their ability to ferret out Liberal corruption efforts. What is this country coming to?

But, having said that...

In Ontario, Doug Ford's Conservative government is quietly looking at ways of privatizing parts of the province's health care system. This is after they turned the clock back on sex education and established a snitch line for teachers who dared to actually live in the present. Add cuts to refugee welfare programmes, and social services generally, to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy because that's what the right wing stands for these days. And, you'd best believe federal Conservative leader Andrew Scheer is looking to replicate moves like this on the federal stage.

Corruption. Evil. Evil. Corruption. Of course, we don't support either. But, honestly, if somebody was trying to hack your leg off, would you be concerned about toenail fungus?

Enjoy,

You Know The Republicans Would Have Supported The Measure If It Had Been Called "A One Day Government Shutdown"

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell railed against a proposal that would make Election Day a holiday for federal workers, arguing that doing so would help his political opponents. "This is the Democrat plan to restore democracy?" he scoffed. "A brand-new week of paid vacation for every federal employee who would like to hover around while you cast your ballot?"

This shows the importance of branding. The Democratic proposal would probably have been better received by McConnell and the Republicans if the day off to vote had been called "Executive Time."

As Hard As It May Be To Believe, You Had To Know That Schwarzenegger And Stallone Would End Up There One Day

Police were called in to investigate a brawl that broke out at a long-term care facility in Rideau Lakes. A 79 year-old woman and an 86 year-old woman got into a fight over a seat at a bingo game.

"You can scoff if you like," said RCMP officer Mimi Mimosa, "but if they had air-slapped each other's hands just a little but harder, the breeze could have knocked one of them over!"

Heavy Is The Head Of The Snowflake Who Wears The Crown

Republicans are complaining that newly elected Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was disrespectful of President Trump during his State of the Union address. What did she do? Apparently, she made sour faces while cameras were on her.

It could have been worse. She could have shouted, "You lie!"

At Least He Has The Sense Not To Call It The "W" Word

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that work was continuing on an "above-ground barrier along the Gaza border." He claimed that the barrier would prevent terrorists from the Occupied Territories from entering Israel.

And, of course, he will get Mexico to pay for it.

Northam By Northwest

In Virginia, Democratic Governor Ralph Northam has been heavily criticized for an image on his page in his medical school yearbook featuring a white man in blackface standing next to somebody wearing a Ku Klux Klan outfit. The incident has put the difference between the two American political parties into stark relief.

Senior Democrats demand the resignation of a member of their party for a racist incident that happened decades earlier. Senior Republicans demand the reelection of a member of their party despite a racist incident that happened days earlier.

Heady Times For Europe

Less than two months from the deadline, the European Union has stated that it has no intention of negotiating a better deal for Britain to leave.

"The country cut off its nose to spite its face," explained EU Council President Donald Tusk. "And, now they want to debate how and when they want the bandages removed. I'm no doctor, but even I know that that's just crazy!"

Meanwhile, Nigel Farage, one of the architects of the Brexit vote, has declared that he is planning on starting a new political party in Britain, even though he's no doctor, either. "Our work on the country's nose has been exemplary," he stated, "but there is still work to be done. I mean, do we really need two lips in order to speak? And, Britons are a hardy race - we could certainly hear which way the wind blew with a single ear!"

The majority of British citizens opposing Brexit increased precipitously at the announcement.

The Absurd Ironyometer Should Do Something About Its Nervous Disposition

White House Press Misleader Sarah Huckabee Sanders has defended Nicholas Sandmann, the MAGA-hat-wearing Covington High School student who was caught on video apparently taunting a Native American veteran. Of Sandmann's accusers, Huckabee Sanders said: "I've never seen people so happy to destroy a child's life."

The Absurd Ironyometer assumed that she was not in the room when President Donald Trump and then Attorney General Jeff Sessions discussed the policy of separating children of undocumented immigrants from their parents at the border. Then, it took a Valium and tried to go back to sleep even though it was only 4:30 in the afternoon.

Pole Ignores Longstanding Wisdom That "You Can't Fall Off The Floor"

Earth's magnetic pole has been drifting so quickly in the past few decades that scientists say that past estimates are no longer accurate enough for precise navigation.

"It's like...it's like the north pole sees dark times ahead, and it's looking for a way to leave Earth entirely until things blow over," said geophysicist Arnaud Chulliat. "And, does it care about the havoc it is wreaking on poor Boy Scouts trying to get their orienteering badge? Selfish bastard!"
