The Daily Me - Oliver Branche

Thank you, Oliver Branche, for signing up for The Daily Me. Our search engine has combed the Internet for up to the minute news items that fit the profile you have so painstakingly filled out for us. Then, we weighted the probability that you would be interested in these articles against forms which showed what people with tastes similar to yours have liked reading in the past. And, then, do those on the internet support the people in the Bahamas who have suffered through Hurricane Dorian? Butt, of course. They happily posted images of their behinds in bikinis on the Instagram to show their solidarity with the thousands of families that lost their homes in the devastation. Insensitive? They would have liked to rebutt the charge. Butt, they realized that a lot of the public would never get behind them (many people accused them of having bats in their belfies), so they decided to post photos of porcupines mating instead to show their solidarity with political prisoners in China.

The Instagram is weird.

Enjoy,

NAFTA Ring Any Bells, Mister Steer?

"I do believe that the UK over the years has given up a tremendous amount of sovereignty," Canadian Republican Pa - err, Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer said in support of Britain's Brexit. "The bureaucratic nature of the EU, the different levels of government, the fact that court decisions in the UK can be appealed to a higher level of court in Europe, those are all things I don't think Canadians would ever accept for ourselves."

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, "I'm grateful for Andy Steer's support. Who is he, again?"

Take Your Gameface Off

The former leader of an American homophobic conversion therapy organization admitted that he is anti-gay in June and is now apologizing for his 20 years trying to force homophobes to be tolerant of people who are not straight.

"I WAS WRONG! Please forgive me!" McRae Gameface said in a lengthy Farcebook post.

Homophobic conversion therapy developed out of the idea that hating gays is a choice, not an attitude one is born with. Through a combination of love-bombing, one-on-one counselling sessions and repeated viewings of the film The Boys in the Band and select episodes of Tales of the City, proponents of the therapy argue that they can bring out the queer-friendly emotions that bigots refuse to acknowledge.

"It's a lie!" Gameface wrote. "Haters gonna hate! I hope I haven't learned that too late!"

And There Is Much That They Do Not Know

Green Party Leader Elizabeth May says members of the Green Party "won't be prevented" from trying to reopen the abortion debate in the next Parliament. On the night before the federal election kicks off, the Green Party of Canada said it would not stop its members from pushing for Quebec separatism in Parliament.

"I could talk to them. I could try to dissuade them. I could say it would be unfortunate…but I don't have the power as leader of the Green Party to whip votes, nor do I have the power to silence an MP." The Green Party "does not whip votes and individual MPs are allowed to express their own opinions on this matter. Since our position on Quebec sovereignty is not one of the party's core values, candidates who support the movement are not screened out by our vetting process," Emery said.

And if an MP voted against party policy on abortion, then Ms. May said she would recommend the party oust the parliamentarian from its ranks. A day later, May herself was backpedalling, insisting "there is no way that a Green Party MP would vote for separation" and vowing her party will "fight for Canada."

Think About It...

There aren't a lot of people in the world who can be considered precognitive? I don't have a problem with that. I'd be happy if more people were post-cognitive!

For Canada's Proudly Racist Political Party, Life Is A Misera

21,300,047) People's Party of Canada candidate Brian Misera asked leader Maxime Bernier to denounce white supremacy, saying that he was tired of being called a Nazi while campaigning in the current election. If you were Bernier, how would you respond? a) thank him for his input, but explain that the PPC is a big tent party and you want it to represent people from a broad spectrum of Canadian politics, from the Proud Baby Boys to the Gutter Rats of Odin
b) thank him for his input, then point out that the good ideas the Nazis had shouldn't be discounted just because of the whole genocide thing
c) thank him for his input and add: "we've revoked your candidacy status, you're not allowed to campaign anymore, but we hope that you still support the party"

-21,300,047) Misera has also been critical of the party's stance on climate change. "[Climate change denial] wasn't part of the platform when he founded the party," he said. "I would much rather, Maxime, that you stop picking fights with 16-year-old girls who want to save the world in order to push your point of view and those who share your point of view, and just instead accept debates with climate scientists." How did this help his case to stay in the PPC? a) not at all
b) not even a little bit
c) if staying in the party was really his motive, he should have known that it wasn't the right climate to make those remarks

-21,300,0472) Is it worth mentioning that Misera was originally drawn to the PPC because of its stance on freedom of speech? i) not at all
ii) not even a little bit
iii) okay, forget I mentioned it...

You're As Cold As ICE

Go Back to From Away is the heartwarming tale of a ship of Barbadian refugees fleeing the ravages of Hurricane Dorian, and the American Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers who closed their hearts to them and turned them away.

"What a horrible story!" says the Globe and Mail.

NOW magazine gives it half a star: "Makes me weep for humanity."

"Makes you want to snap your fingers and tap your toes," says the National Post.

Go Back to From Away - you may be outraged, you may become more cynical, you may even descend into despair, but nobody who watches this musical comes away from it unchanged!
